KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) — The Tourism Ministry has provided a RM50,000 allocation the Brickfields business community here to help them in the “Fabulous Food” campaign in December this year.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said since it was the first time Little India was involved in the campaign, the allocation was initiative from the government to assist the business community improve on the infrastructure and decoration of the area prior to the campaign.

“We want the traders there to contribute to the preparations and clean the area as we want to promote Little India as a major destination not only for foreign tourists but also for the Indian community.

“To support this effort, the ministry will also discuss with the operator of the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus service so that Little India will be included as one of its stopping points,” Ng told reporters after making a walkabout in the area Wednesday.

The minister said her ministry would also be bringing in foreign media representatives to come to the area to experience for themselves the uniqueness of the various cultures in the country.

Besides this, she said, Little India would also be promoted vigorously to the 1.2 million tourists from China who were targeted to visit Malaysia this year.
